Black & whites from photography classes I took at Newton South High School in the spring and fall semesters of 1988 (Junior & Senior year).
This was my introduction to photography.

    Kether Submissions

  • Vertical Hold [1988]
Kether, an art & literature magazine at Brandeis, used this photo as the cover for an issue they titled Androgynous Laundry. The runner-up issue title was Vertical Hold, and I chose to name the photo that. Pity they didn't use it as the issue title...

  • Xenia [1988]
This photo was submitted to Kether and initally accepted, but at a final layout meeting, several editors decided it was objectionable because it depicts a woman as "submissive", and replaced it with a photo of an apple. An 8-1 vote of the editors present agreed the apple photo was not as good, artistically, but they decided 5-4 to exclude this photo on political grounds.
  • There's another photo of Xenia, and one of her brother John, on the people page.

  • Several other photos of mine from these photography classes, were published in Kether. Someday I'll scan some more of them in...
