My Writing

Here are some of the papers and articles I have written in the past six years or so. If I ever got to make some copies off the computer in my mother's house, I'll be able to get at some stories and papers I wrote during high school, and put them in here.

Short Fiction

The following three pieces were written when I was at MASP, the Massachusetts Advanced Studies Program, in the summer between my junior and senior years of high school, and were published the following year by Reflections, the student literary magazine at Newton South High School. While at Brandeis, I re-typed them by hand, making minor changes, in order to submit them to Kether, a student literary magazine, my senior year.
  • A short untitled piece
  • Nablus Patrol
  • A character sketch which I now call Illusions of High School
  • Opinion Pieces

These were published in The Justice or The Watch. The Justice is the independent student newspaper at Brandeis, and the Watch is a student opinion magazine at Brandeis. Some of these were published in slightly modified form (usually just a few typos added :), but these are my original submissions in most cases.
  • A letter to Congress about digital music & copyright, focusing on licensing fees for digital broadcasters
  • This letter to The Justice, was my response to their publication of an ad from the Partnership for a Drug-Free America
  • Several years later, I wrote this letter to The Justice in reference to a debate between Dr. Faigel and a student group that promotes marijuana legalization. My response to a letter by Dr. Faigel was too long for The Justice, but was later published in The Watch.
  • Here is a letter I wrote to The Justice regarding the Brandeis Socialists club's overly simplistic comments about zionism.
  • Other Papers...

  • Tales in Bureaucracy, a true story about Brandeis. I originally mailed it out to a list of my friends, and later it was published in The Watch. Two years later, it was republished in The Watch. Guess they liked it.
  • A short introduction to WBRS's programming philosophy, which WBRS has occasionally published in its program guides.
  • The constitution of the Brookline High School Strategic Games Club (SGC), which I wrote with John Kumph in 1989.
  • A review of Connor Cruise O'Brien's book, The Siege, which I wrote for The Watch for the commencement 1995 issue, when O'Brien is due to receive an honorary degree from Brandeis.
  • A humanities class paper I wrote in college. I have no idea why anyone would want to read this one, but I have it online so here it is :)
